I’m trying to validate my WP-site ( through and I get this error:

Element div not allowed as child of element pre in this context. (Suppressing further errors from this subtree.)

    <pre><div class="wpcf7" id="wpcf7-f88-o1">

I wish to delete the pre-tag but I’ve been unable to find where it’s generated so far. It seems to be wrapped around the form so I figured that it’s CF7 that’s generating this specific code.
Does anyone know which specific file it is?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I don’t see <pre> in any of my very large number of CF7 forms, so I expect it is being generated by something in your WP theme or one of your plugins.

Temporarily switch to a WP Default theme and disable all plugins other than CF7. If this removes the problem you can switch back to your theme and then activate each plugin, one by one, to find the cause.

Ok, so it is my theme then. Thanks alot for the help. I’ll scan through my themefiles so see where it is.
