• Though I’ve enjoyed the much improved Google Pagespeed with W3 Total Cache for one of my sites, for the past 2 months my admin panel has been a nightmare.

Most days, the login screen wouldn’t even load without hanging and requiring multiple refreshes. Then after logging in, the page would hang again and eventually result in 503 errors even after multiple browser cache clearing and refreshes.

When checking my Bluehost error logs, nothing showed and their support team never could replicate the error.

Often, a minify error (x.css does not exist) would be waiting in the dashboard, but I read advice last month to ignore those so I did.

However, simply navigating around the admin area has also been painfully slow, so I of course tried switching themes, disabling other plugins, etc. Nothing did the trick and I didn’t want the problem to be a caching plugin that I really need.

Then this weekend, we had a surge in traffic and the plugin’s load on our database caused our host to throttle us, which resulted in pages not loading at all and producing 502 errors. Even an hour after disabling, I couldn’t get into my admin and I had to go into FTP to delete all W3TC plugin files.
