[Resolved] W3 Total Cache and Amazon S3 paths

  • Hi guys –

I’m setting up W3 Total Cache on a Buddypress set with Amazon S3 as the CDN.

For theme files and includes it’s working fine, but not for user uploaded files.

I’ve added “wp-content/blogs.dir/*” into the custom file list, since this is where all the users upload their avatars and blog files. The plugin uploaded everything fine to the CDN, but when it replaced paths for avatars, etc., it’s missing some of the path.

For example, the file should be “https://fanspeak.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/11/Debs-fanspeak-piccd8f9dfde422e0e6bfdf51ff315e0e6c-avatar1.jpg”

Instead, the site is calling the file at:
    http://fanspeak.s3.amazonaws.com/files/avatars/11/Debs-fanspeak-piccd8f9dfde422e0e6bfdf51ff315e0e6c-avatar1.jpg

It’s missing the “wp-content/blogs.dir/1/” in the path.

Is there someway to add this in? Does something need to be adjusted?

  • Hmm, it seems like it’s something with the necessary .htaccess rewrite rules for Buddypress.

    #uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/$ index.php [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.*wp-content/plugins.*
    RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/(.*) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]

Is that something that can be added in with the plugin? Or in Amazon s3?

Did you already submit a bug submission form (from the support tab of the plugin) about the issue?

Hi Frederick – just submitted it. Thank you for your help!
