I've been using and developing with WordPress for close to two years now, and really want to get more involved in the community. I've decided to help out on the forms, I've begun contributing to core and am writing for the codex.

How does one go about changing the title under the Gravatar image? I'd like to be a Volunteer Support or Moderator (or both?). I was reading in another thread that one needs to go through a sort of 'review' process, but of course I would need to speak to a current moderator/admin to 'apply'.

    Thanks

[LOL - bumping this thread in particular probably not such a great idea - http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#No_Bumping

  2. There is no application or review process. If the moderators decide they need another moderator, then they'll find one.

Basically, you don't ask to be a moderator, the moderators ask you. :)

You could display some ranks, like phpBB and vbulletin does.

That will also help us, plugin/theme developers, to quickly identify the type of user we are dealing with and to "adjust" our answer accordingly.

Ranks for someone's level of experience with WordPress? Since these are community forums you aren't dealing with just the 1 person who responds or posts, you're giving an answer that's going to be read by everyone else too. You can try to tailor your answers for that one person, but you shouldn't.

If you want to discuss this create your own thread: http://wordpress.org/support/forum/miscellaneous#postform
