    Hi,
    I’m using v1.8.8 of this plug-in against wordpress v4.2.2.

One of the sheets (a recurring event) has lost a number of the volunteers from the list of sign-ups.
I know they were there because I had checked before, and the volunteers have not cleared themselves from the event sign-up.
I am wondering if this is something that has been seen before and there is a known explanation for (although I can’t see anything on this forum), and also if there is any backup of the volunteers that I can go back to to check how many may have been lost. (I know that there are 4 that have gone missing but there may be more).
    Thanks
    Colin

Would the missing signup be for expired tasks? That is, dates that have already passed? If so, then that is the normal behavior. The public side of the sign-up sheets will not show expired tasks, and won’t even show entire sheets if all the tasks for that sheet are expired.

On the admin side, there are two options you can set relating to expired sign-ups and tasks. One of them is to automatically delete expired sign-ups… helping you keep your database size from growing too large. But, if that is NOT checked, then your signups will still be in the database. The other option you can check is to show expired tasks, but that only applies on the admin dashboard when you click on the View Sign-Ups link for a sheet… that’s the only place you can view expired tasks and sign-ups (if they haven’t been deleted automatically or manually).

I have had absolutely no reports of sign-ups or sheets being deleted all by themselves. Please check your settings for those two options I mentioned. If you had it set to automatically delete sign-ups, or if somebody went into the CRON Functions page and hit the button to delete expired sign-ups, then they would all be gone permanently and the only way you would be able to get them back is if you had a backup of your site’s database before they were deleted. Same as with any post or other WordPress data… once you delete it from the database, it is gone.

    Thanks for your reply.

Some of the dates of the recurring event had passed but not the dates of the specific events that the volunteers have gone missing from.
I had neither of those settings checked. I have now checked the Show expired tasks box, and so on the admin page I can now see the past event which still has the volunteers against it so the cron job to remove expired events hasn’t been run and picked up some of the events that haven’t happened yet.

I’ll speak to the volunteers again to make sure they haven’t done anything but I’m pretty confident that they haven’t.

I’ll take some regular exports to a csv file so that I can try to monitor if it happens again and if it does try and see if there is any pattern to it.
    Thanks

    OK… thanks for the update.

I’m not quite sure I understand, though. You are not missing any sign-ups on the admin side when you view the sign-ups, but some of the non-expired task signups are not being shown on the public side?? Are the tasks showing with empty sign-up slots? Or the tasks are not even showing? Or, everything is actually working the way it should be and all future sheets/tasks are being correctly shown?

If you can see the sign-ups on the admin side, they should be showing up on the public side also. The same database functions are used on both sides to retrieve the sign-ups from the database.

You may also want to check the shortcode used for the signups page, as there are some arguments that can be set in it to only show certain sheets or certain dates.

At this point, though, I’m confident that it’s not a plugin issue, as nobody else has reported anything like it, and I can’t recreate anything like that in my own tests.

If you are able to recreate the issue again, please let me know, and screen shots or links would be helpful (contact me privately through my site for those, and I will take a look). Until then, I’ll mark this as resolved.
