 * Ok, so here is the problem. If I am working on a page in HTML mode to any code
   work, say imbedding a You Tube video, if I toggle back to visual mode to do other
   work, then back to HTML, I lose all the code I just put in and anything I have
   done before. This also happens even if I have published the page. I have also
   noticed that even if I don’t do any code work, going from visual to HTML, then
   back adds a bar space code. ( ) This is driving me crazy! I don’t remember having
   this problem before, could my WordPress installation be corrupted? Or, is this
   a bug in this version? I should also mention this has been going on since the
   past three or four versions of WP. This is the page I am having issues with.

 * Some help here, please?

 * WordPress intentionally strips out iframes – which is now YouTube’s default embedding
   method – and certain other types of code – when you switch back and forth between
   visual and HTML modes. This is not a bug, though it’s definitely frustrating
   if you’re not aware of what’s happening. The best solution I’ve found for this
   particular issue is a plug-in called [Better YouTube Embeds](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/dirtysuds-embed-youtube-iframe/).
   This lets you use WordPress’s super-easy [built-in video embedding method](http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds)
   called oEmbed while still displaying YouTube embeds in an iframe, so they’ll
   be viewable on iPads, iPhones, and other non-Flash devices.

 * Hey Zoonini,
 * Thanks for the reply, it works sort-of, the videos embed ok, but I noticed that
   play back on them was not smooth, they will stop and start with the “loading”
   wheel spinning. Also, another glitch I found was that the will not take any sort
   of formatting such as “align center.” I guess I just have to reinsert the code
   when I’m done with the page.
 * All that said, there still is the bar space code being inserted when switching
   back and forth, I can’t tell you the number of times I have had to remove that
   code!

 * What do you mean by “bar space code”?
 * Really, the best thing is to avoid switching back and forth between the HTML &
   visual editors to avoid this type of grief with the editor. If you’re comfortable
   with HTML mode, you can simply deactivate the visual editor for your user.

 * Ok, I tried posting this before but it saw it as code and made a (you guessed
   it) bar space. LOL! So this time I will introduce some spaces into the code so
   it is not code.
 * & n b s p ;
 * Just remove the spaces and you will see the code.

 * Ah – OK, first of all – to preserve HTML code here in the forums you just need
   to select it and press the “code” button in the little editing toolbar.
 * That HTML entity called a non-breaking space. When you paste text in the editor,
   are you pasting in anything from a program like Word? Do you double-space after
   periods? Those scenarios are where I’ve commonly seen non-breaking spaces added
   by the editor.

 * Ya, I’m still learning the forums, don’t come here much, that’s a good thing
   I guess.
 * Word??? That’s a Microsoft based virus, right?? LOL!! The only windows here are
   in my house!
 * No, it’s all Mac all the time here! 🙂 I edit text and code on Text Wrangler,
   or Text Edit, any pasting done has been with the text pasting tool, no, not the
   one for Windows based text, the other one. Yes, I do double space, so that may
   be it, I’ll have to look for that to see if it’s causing the issue.
 * Thanks for the help. 🙂
 * BTW….. cool site, love the “how to” for hiring a site designer, something similar
   on my site, called “Three Things.” [](http://www.timage.com/three-things/)

 * Word has a decent Mac version – I use it all the time. 😉
 * Good luck solving the non-breaking space issue! If you stop double-spacing after
   periods (a typewriter holdover) you may solve the problem.

 * Neat!
