    Hi Dave,

    WP for some ungodly reason automatically opens a post/page edit with the Visual tab by default.

    This is not normal. The editor should open on whatever tab is was on last when the post/page was saved.

    If it is ALWAYS opening in “visual”; regardless of what state it was in when saved; then something else is going on.

    In WP Edit; there is an option to always default to the “visual” tab (Editor Tab options). Make sure you do not have this option enabled.

    In order to retain <p> tags… you’ll either need to remove the wpautop() filter (available in the Pro version… or custom code). Or, you can add a class to your <p> tags; which will preserve them in the editor. Like <p class="none">.
