# Visual Editor – Visual Tab Not Working

 * Everything was working fine, then it decided to stop working, across multiple
   sites.
 * On one of my small site using the default theme twentyeleven, it’s also not working
   even with all the plugins deactivated. No cache plugin installed. Cloudflare 
   cache purged. This site also tells me that it’s not those cornerstone/layerslider
   plugin issues because it’s not even installed here.
 * Seems like I’m not the [only one](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/visual-tab-blank).
   Mine happened within the last 1 week though.
 * Server problem? If it is, what should I check for?

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default 2016 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder and wp-
   config.php & root .htaccess files – from a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make
   sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new
   ones.

 * Figured a problem. It was a .htaccess command that I’m using to deflect incoming
   query string based spam.
