• Hi! This is my first post, and I sure hope someone can help soon as I need to finish my site this weekend. I’m using WP 2.9.1 with the latest version of the Atahualpa theme. I was editing a static page, adding .jpg graphics and text within a table, and saving/updating regularly. When I finished, I clicked Update one more time, and suddenly my Visual Editor capability vanished; both tabs show the HTML view now. Not only that, when I scrolled down to Page Revisions to see if I could restore the view by using an earlier version of the page, all my page revisions for that page were gone! I see in the Forum that people have had problems with Visual Editor vanishing on prior WP versions, but I didn’t see anyone with post where both the Visual Editor and Page Revisions vanished for only one page. The page Views fine, but would be a real pain to edit in HTML mode. This was more than an hour’s worth of work! I tried copying and pasting the HTML into a new page, and got the Visual Editor back that way, as well as some Page Revisions when I saved, but after the first time I clicked Update on the new page, the font sizes on that new page became enormous and trying to edit them in the Visual Editor didn’t work properly. Is there a tables bug or something in WP 2.9.1?? How can the page revisions for my original page have just vanished?? I have more pages like this one to build, and a deadline of Monday, so this is a real problem. Can anyone help?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

Did you paste content in from anything other than a plain text editor?

Hi! Thanks for the speedy reply. I don’t actually have any plugins installed on this particular site yet. I took your advice and switched to the default theme, and sure enough, the page in question normalized. I want to use Atahualpa (I’m on version 3.4.5), so now I have to figure out what to do; I will see about their support forum, I guess. I had been pasting (CTRL-V) my content from my old site, then re-adding the images that I had already uploaded to my media gallery. I haven’t had a problem with that before (I created a much bigger site doing that on Atahualpa without issue over the past few weeks, the only difference being many more images on each page of this new site I’m building). It was fine until I started reformmating the text and adding the images, and even that was going fine until I guess I hit some kind of critical mass event and it freaked out. If copying & pasting from my old site is a bad idea, that would be good to know, though. I will look into the BytesFor All forum as well, now that it looks like a Theme-related issue. Thanks!

Hi— In 3.0 revisions can only be viewed in HTML mode. How do I change that?
