Visual Composer Row Background

I’m quite experienced with using Visual Composer but there is just one issue I can’t get my head around. It is probably really simple but I’m so frustrated after spending ages trying to work it out.

I have a row. I added an image to the row. I now added a background to the row (solid colour). I want the background to be the same height as the image, but for some reason there is a space only beneath the image where the background protrudes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
