 * Hi everyone,
 * I have a brand new website running on WordPress, which I’m currently working
   on. While I’m working on it, there’s a “coming soon” static website when you
   type my website address into the address bar. However, access to the WordPress
   part of my website which is in the public html folder is easy, because you only
   add /wordpress to my website’s address.
 * Why is that so and how can I make sure that no one has access to my website while
   I’m setting up my theme and content?
 * P.S. I found an option in the Settings section where the address of my WordPress
   website is [http://mywebsite.com/wordpress](http://mywebsite.com/wordpress),
   so do I change it here or is there another way?
 * Thank you!

 * Usually we have a Development (DEV) site (typically named dev.mywebsite.com)
   where we build/test the site. Since we do a lot of integration work, our DEV
   site is connected to the client’s 3rd party TEST database(s).
 * Then we have a Staging site (typically named staging.mywebsite.com) where everything
   comes together so the client can do their User Acceptance Testing and we can
   make sure what we’ve built also works well with the client’s 3rd party PRODUCTION
   database(s).
 * Finally, we have the real Production (PROD) site (named, you guessed it, mywebsite.
   com).
 * As for what you’re asking for, which appears to be a site you can both develop
   on as well as be a “Coming Soon!” landing page for your customers, I Googled
   around a bit and found what looks like a pretty good solution.
 * It’s a WordPress plugin called “Ultimate Coming Soon Page” and has a 4.6 out
   of 5 star rating. Plus it claims to be compatible with the latest WordPress build(
   i.e., 4.4.2).
 * What intrigued me most was this statement from the plugin’s author, “Visible
   to only non logged in users so you can build your site while visitors see the‘
   Coming Soon’ page.” Which sounds like exactly what _I believe_ you’re looking
   for. 😉
 * More about the “Ultimate Coming Soon Page” plugin here:

 * Hope this helps!
