In addition, I have now discovered that a password protected page remembers that you have entered the password for the machine, not your login. I can log out and it allows access. I can login as a different user and it allows access. That makes the mechanism useless.

About the second question, when you password protect a page, you are not associating it to your user. You are only accessing to this page. And the cookie with the password will be stored in your computer. So if you want the page to be protected again in your computer, you must delete the cookie.

    And in the other question:

    1. Public: Everybody can see the post.

    2. Password: You need a password to see the post.

    3. Private: Only you (and user roles granted to see private posts) can see the post.

    Thanks bi0xd.

“when you password protect a page, you are not associating it to your user. You are only accessing to this page. And the cookie with the password will be stored in your computer. So if you want the page to be protected again in your computer, you must delete the cookie.”

This means that if someone uses the secret password at a library or internet cafe they can accidentally leave the page unlocked for anyone else who ever uses the machine. This is not the behaviour that anyone would expect.

Are there any plugins that allow proper permission systems? Something like assigning users to groups and only specific groups being allowed to see particular categories and pages.

I tried deleting cookies using Tools/Internet Options, but the page still remains unprotected once I have logged in. I now can’ get it to give me the log in again. Is there are way to protect a page, and have users log in every time? At least, can someone tell me how to get my age to be protected again?? I have deleted everything, have closed and reopened the browser and still it appears unprotected!

    Please help!

All I need is to protect one page!
