I am working on a site right now which allows users/guests to submit their own photos through a form on the sites front end. The content is saved as a draft post with the photo set as the featured image.
It all works great and there is validation in the form to make sure the file uploaded is always an image file. However my client has flagged the potential issue of a user being able to upload a virus ridden image file in an attempt to take down the site, as there is currently no security measure in place to make sure the file is safe.
So my question is… Is there any way of performing a scan on a file before it is uploaded through the WP media uploader, so if the file has a virus it will prevent it from being uploaded?
Any help at all very very much appreciated, as the deadline is Monday! Many thanks.
