Vimeo Videos Don’t Pop-up

    I’m having a bear of a time getting ANY lightbox plugin to work on my embedded Vimeo videos. I have Easy Fancybox installed, activated and “Vimeo” checked in the list of media. Yet my embedded Vimeo video simply plays in place. Have I added the video to the page incorrectly? I simply used the Vimeo embed code.

    I have also tried adding the Vimeo code via a content widget, as on my real page:

    But all videos on that page just play in place too. Nothing pops into a lightbox no matter which plugin I try.

    Hi, with Easy FancyBox you do not need the embed code, you need the video page URL. With that, you then create a link to the Vimeo page for the light box to be opened from.

    This link can be a text link or a thumbnail image linked with “Link to: Custom URL” (paste the Vimeo page URL) … but embedding a video will not work as that will simply embed your video 😉

    Ah, ok. I was so hoping I wouldn’t have to create custom thumbnail graphics every time we want to add a new video. I was thinking there might be some way to have the Vimeo image for each video BE the thumbnail by just entering the video URL in a content widget. Thanks for the feedback.

    There appears to be a trick to find out (and download) the video image from Vimeo, read here https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1361149/get-img-thumbnails-from-vimeo … this image you can then use on your site.

    Not automatic but maybe easier than creating your own images 🙂
