Viewscreens: do we need a variable theme? (5 posts)

I use a wide monitor, but most WP themes are narrow and disappear down into oblivion where my monitor does not.

Of course, elevator rides up and down the scroll bar are the usual way to handle this, but what about horizontal motion? Is anyone prepared to design a horizontal theme? Otherwise, how do we use all that horizontal space?

And there is always the issue of intenet phone screens.

Maybe we need a theme with three ways of viewing, depending on what mode is used to view: a tiny mode for "phone" viewing, a horizontal mode for wide screens, and the good old vertical mode for tall people with flexible spines.

    Here is a horizontal theme:

    That is really neat. Thanks.

Now all I need is a way to use both themes at once. I suppose I could run one as a subdomain, but that means posting everything twice. I could post a link to give the reader a choice of themes. Is it possible to have one theme post automatically from another's database?

You want to offer to visitors the alternative to switch themes?

If that, it’s easy. You can use a theme switcher. I use Theme Switcher Reloaded, and I also wrote a how-to: http://op111.net/p60

Thank you, demitris; that is very comprehensive. You have given me a lot to consider, and a direction to pursue.
