Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » View Pictures full size

  • Resolved viking01

I tested Gutenberg and I think I could get well acquainted with it. One thing, however, seems to be missing:
My readers love to view the images I put in in full size. So, before they just had to click on the image to view it in full size.

It seems that this is no longer possible (unless I embed my pictures with Flickr or Imgur).
Is there a plan to get this function or to use galleries?

  • Hi @viking01,

You can still make images link to the full size version! As you have discovered, it is not the default as it was in the Classic editor, but here’s how to do it:

    1. Add your image block
    2. With that new block still selected, look at the editor’s right sidebar, where you can see settings for the current block.
    3. Below Image Settings there is a section called Link Settings. Here you can select whether the image links to the media file, the attachment page, a custom URL, or nothing (nothing is the default).

    Does this help?

Yes, thank you Corey, I missed that. Works perfectly now!

The problem with that, however, is that it links to the size image the gallery picked, not the actual full size image. My gallery is made up of my “large” size images, and clicking them (set to link: media file) opens the “large” size and not the “full size”.

I have exactly the same question as Godthor :
It appears that the gallery points to 768x512px images although I have uploaded h1080px images. How to tell the gallery to pointing to the original size? And not to these 768×512 images.
    Thanks a lot.
