Sorry to be a pain again, but the link at the top of the gallery edit page “View gallery” returns error 404 always.
The link is (sitename)/gallery/(gallery name) and there is no folder “gallery” anywhere.
Not a real problem, just thought I would let you know.

Try deactivating and reactivating the plugin again. It should copy a file from the plugins/maxgalleria folder to your current theme folder. The file is single-maxgalleria.php. If the file is not in your theme folder, try coping it manually.

If this solves your issue thanks in advance for marking this thread as ‘Resolved’ so we know your question has been answered and for giving us and our plugin a rating at Maxgalleria Reviews

    Sorry no improvement.
    I reactivated – no different.
I was using a child theme so I checked that your file is in the main theme folder – it is; and I added the php file to the child (copy from the master theme) – no different.
    Reactivated – no different.
I changed to the master theme (Raindrops) – no different.
By the way, the file is single-maxgallery.php rather than maxgalleria but changing the name made no difference.
It isn’t a problem in practice of course.

I have installed the plugin in another site using theme Atahualpa and the result is quite different. No 404 errors. It goes to a page with the name of the gallery only.
The link from gallery edit is http://(site name)/?post_type=maxgallery&p=775&preview=true
which is quite different from the one I mention above.
    May be a theme problem.

I just had the same problem and could resolve it by updating the .htaccess file. Just browse to your WP settings => permalinks and click on the button “save changes”.

You are right – it works! I can’t imagine why, but thanks.

It would be nice if this were fixed. There have been a couple of updates recently, and each time I had to deactivate-reactivate the plugin, and re-save my permalinks. It’s do-able, but an unnecessary hassle in an otherwise stellar plugin.

By the way, I love the new slideshow style.

With a theme update any Maxgalleria templates in your theme folder will be deleted. Thus, in the future, you should update your theme first and then update Maxgalleria. Or when the theme is updated, go to your plugins page and deactivate and reactivate all Maxgalleria plugins so that any templates that are required get copied into your theme.

Aha, here’s a pure test. I have only one update on my updates page, MaxGalleria version 3.1.0 -> 3.1.1. Here we go…

I have a gallery open already in a separate tab, and I’m clicking the Update Now link. The plugin has been installed and reactivated correctly.

Back to my open gallery tab — refresh — everything works!

Try a different gallery — it works too.

This time at least, problem solved.

By the way, checking off the “Align Top Enabled” box breaks the lightbox effect with my particular installation (www.mphda.org). Using the “Make” theme.
