  • I am having a terribly difficult time getting embedded videos to view on the iPhone/iPad and Safari (the native browser on the iOS devices). I have tried every HTML5 video embed plugin I can find…. nothing is working. Every plugin works wonderfully on a multitude of browsers on Mac and PC computers, but on my iOS devices I see a nice little black box on the web pages and no video. I either get a notice about a bad network connection or the video format being unsupported.

Thing is, these videos are straight out of iTunes. At first, I tried preparing them myself. When that didn’t work, I imported the videos into iTunes and then had iTunes create an iPhone version of the video, so that I could verify that this was in fact a valid format. The videos play great inside iTunes on the iPhone, but they won’t load in the web page.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

  • You’re probably trying to use flash on an iPhone, which isn’t possible.

That said, I fail to see how this is a WordPress issue.

That’s what I thought at first, but all the plugins I’m using don’t use Flash. I purposely was looking for HTML5 versions of the embedded video plugins, and I’m still having issues.

When a video uses Flash on the iPhone, the kinds of error messages I’m mentioning don’t show.
