Hi, I’ve got a video hosted on Vimeo.com that I am embedding into a modal window on my webpage but I’ve discovered a problem in that when I open the modal on my iPad to watch the video, the sound plays but the screen is black (i.e. the video doesn’t play but you can hear it). I posted a topic on the Vimeo help forums (here’s the URL: https://vimeo.com/forums/help/topic:110533) and they said that it’s caused by how the modal uses display:none …is there any way to fix this or should I be looked for a different embed service? I have a fair amount of web traffic using iPads so it’s important that they can view it properly! 🙂
The issue is likely due to the embedded player being loaded but hidden before it’s actually needed. It’s best practice to only load the player when it’s actually being displayed, instead of hiding it by using display:none. This may also be caused by the lightbox you’re using to display the embed, you may want to contact the developer of that code for support.
Is there a way to “only load the embedded player when it’s needed”?
So I’m not sure if this is something I’m able to fix myself? I’m happy to try…I just don’t know what to try/do. I did try removing SRC attribute from within the modal box code and then saving, then adding it back, but it’s still giving me the same problem.
