1. Kindly go to Video Gallery => Settings => Display (tab) => Image Settings (submenu) from your WordPress Admin Panel.
2. Find the option “Ratio”. I guess it should be “100” and this is the reason for the issue. Kindly change it to “56.25”, save the changes and check now.

Nope, sorry. The grey box is smaller, but still surrounds the thumbnail. I even tried changing it to an even smaller number (30, 40, etc), but what happened was that the thumbnail image was smaller (vertically, top-to-bottom), with no grey box on top or bottom, but the grey box was still there on both sides. This was never a problem before…I don’t know what happened or how to fix it.
The “Ratio” setting (56.25) is good now. But, the issue occurs because of the image size. I see your videos are from YouTube for which we pick the medium quality image file from YouTube. The solution is to use the high quality images from YouTube.
In other words, our plugin adds the mqdefault.jpg file from YouTube. The reason is not all YouTube videos have the maxresdefault.jpg (high quality) file. To check if a YouTube video has a maxresdefault.jpg file, we need to use their API which is not 100% free and has several limitations. This is the reason we ended up picking mqdefault.jpg file.
Solution:
Kindly edit the video forms under your WordPress Admin Panel => Video Gallery => Videos, locate the “Image” field, change mqdefault.jpg from the auto generated image URL to maxresdefault.jpg

Yes, that works! Thanks so much! 🙂
