I’m trying to encode .mov files to mp4 using ffmpeg and movfaststart. I selected the options but i’m told videos are in queue to be encoded and it just stays that way.

Can I monitor or trigger the queue? How is it normally done? I’m using an option to start wordpress jobs using a cron rather than on pageload if that helps.

My plugin uses the standard wp-cron system to start encoding jobs so your cron setup is most likely the problem. What are the details of your cron system?

Hi there, thanks for replying to me. I believe the problem resolved itself. I noticed the server load was high and that it ws decoding 5 videos at a time. That’s why things were going so slow. I’ve adjusted it to “0” for multithreading but set the settings to one encoding at a time.

I have 11 CPUs. Do you have any other recommendations for optimizing?

I think 0 threads and 1 encode at a time is probably optimal but I haven’t spent a lot of time testing encoding speeds. FFMPEG tends to grab as many system resources as it can.
