  • I would like to add Lightbox or Thickbox functionality for VideoPress embeds.

    There are a number of plugins that do this for YouTube, Vimeo, etc., but they do not support VideoPress by default. (example:

    I have been sifting through lightbox code and googling trying to figure this out for the last 5 hours or so, and have not had any luck.

    Any ideas on where to look next? Has anyone accomplished this?

  • Bump.

    Did you have any luck in finding a plugin that adds Lightbox functionality for Videopress embeds? I am trying to find the same thing.

    @mharriett – I did not find a good way to do this. Perhaps @andreaamado‘s suggestion will work.

    Thanks for the advice, before I saw your suggestion I found some code and a plugin that works good for creating a lightbox. I used the Fancybox for WordPress plugin ( ). Here is the code.

    <div style=”display:none” id=”testube”>
    <object width=”320″ height=”270″>
    <param name=”movie” value=”FILE URL”></param>
    <param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param>
    <embed src=”″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”300″ height=”250″ wmode=”direct” seamlesstabbing=”true” allowfullscreen=”true” allowscriptaccess=”always” overstretch=”true” flashvars=”guid=XXXXXXXX&isDynamicSeeking=true” title=””></embed>

    My only issue with using this is that I cannot get the video to autoplay when it pops up in the lightbox. I have to click the video again to get it to play. I have tried adding autoplay = “true”, autoplay = “1” to the code, but that has not worked.

    Do you have any advice on how I can get this video to autoplay when it pops up in the lightbox?
