I don’t have access to a WIN10-machine myself, so can’t debug I’m afraid. What does the browser’s console (js error log) say?

    Hi Frank,

that problem was at a friend of mine. So I have no access to the pc.
I must go to him and look at the browser’s console.

How can I get the browser console?

    Thanks for help.

How can I get the browser console?

in firefox press f12 and click on 2nd or 3rd tab “> console”.
in chrome f12 and click on last tab “console”

I tested on my own blog with remoteIE (an MS Edge instance on Azure Cloud) and it works flawlessly actually. I wanted to test on your blog, but it seems you disabled WP YouTube Lyte?

My hunch; as it doesn’t work on any browser at your friend’s, something else is going on. In general the lyte preview will remain grey is JS isn’t loaded.

    hope this helps,

had a facebook-friend test my site in Win10 with Edge-browser, he confirmed everthing worked as it should.

ping me when you have at least one page with a lyte-vid so we can try to troubleshoot this.

    Hi Frank,

yes it works fine because I have disabled the plugin WP YouTube Lyte on my website.

To test it, please take a website, install WP YouTube Lyte, enable it and take a link httpv://… to a YouTube video.

You will see, you have a grey display on a pc with Windows 10 in Firefox, Google Chrome and Edge. I did not test it with Safari.

no, actually; I tested on my blog and it worked just fine. so the problem isn’t wp youtube lyte as such, but something either on your blog or on your friends computer. to be able to proceed, I would need at least one lyte-vid on your blog to see what is happening myself.

    Frank,

it is only a problem on a pc with Windows 10 with an automatic update form Windows 7. After disabled your plugin it works fine and the video begann with https://

Is it possible that Windows 10 don´t like httpv://… ?

    Plugin Author Frank Goossens

    (@futtta)

no, as the httpv-link is never visible in the front-end; wp youtube lyte replaces that with the lyte dummy player which uses HTML, CSS & esp. JS to load the thumbnail & stuff.

and the test of that FB-friend was on a PC did was upgraded from an older windows-version, so …

based on the tests I did I’m pretty confident by now that there is no general problem for wp youtube lyte on Win10. the problem is either linked to your friend’s computer or to specific conditions on your site, so the next step would be to find out which of those two applies.

    Hi Frank,

the installation with Windows 10 has a security software from a cable-provider in use. This security software is the reason that a video is not running and show a grey display.

    Thank you for help.

happy you found the root cause musterman. looks like the security software blocks (some or all) JS from running.
