    Hi Support,

When I have more than 1 video in a slide and for example, I delay the second one to play after the first one, I noticed that the second video starts midway through the runtime. Example: Video 1 is 3 secs, Video 2 is 5 secs. When it’s time for Video 2 to appear, it starts at the 4th second. Seems like it was playing in the background from the beginning of the slide.

Is this common or an issue from my end?

Hello @mauteurs thanks for getting in touch. Could I please ask if you are delaying these using an animation on the video?

If so could you tell me what settings you have for video 1 and video 2 so that I can test this with the exact settings you have.

Sure. From the tracklist (in chronological order)
    1. Image as background
    2. Text (Fade, delay 0ms, Duration 800 ms)
    3. Video (Fade, delay 800ms, Duration 1200 ms)
    4. Text (Slide, delay 900 ms, Duration 800 ms)
    5. Video (Fade, delay 3600 ms, Duration 400 ms)
    6. Text (Slide, delay 3800 ms, 800 ms)
    7. Text (Slide, delay 9400 ms, 800 ms)
    8. Logo Image (no animation)

Slides properties set at 12 seconds

@mauteurs thank you for the detailed steps here very useful! Can I please check if this is happening for you when adding these to the first page of a story?

If this is the case we currently have an open GitHub issue for this which you can find here: Please feel free to follow this for updates.

We are also looking to add animation timelines to the plugin in the future meaning that you will be able to set animations to trigger after another animation has finished. There is no set date for this currently but it is something we will be adding in the future.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello @mauteurs, I have marked your newly created topic for this as resolved as I will keep you updated through this topic.

Unfortunately we don’t yet have a timeline for the release on this issue, but we will update you as soon as we know more.

Hi @mauteurs, thanks for following up on this issue. Disabling animations on the first page is part of an ongoing experiment in order to measure performance improvements, and it is still in progress.

You can continue to monitor the progress of this testing and next steps in the GitHub issue here: As you can see, we’re currently checking with the broader Web Stories team to see if there’s a timeline for how much longer they plan to test this change and what the next steps are.

We will update here when we know more. Thanks!

@mauteurs Just dropping an update here to let you know that unfortunately you will not be able to have animations on the first page of your Web story. This is for a better user experience and performance reasons.

As part of our latest plugin update you will now see a warning for this when trying to add any animations to your first page.
