Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Very slow site with Woocommerce

  • Hi
I am running a Virtue theme with latest WordPress. I am currently working on the site and when in admin I am experiencing extremely slow load speeds – for example when I am making a change and go from admin to ‘visit site’ it can take over 35 to 40 seconds to load, it is the same when in the home page and then trying to click to another page.

I decided to deactivate all my plugins one-by-one to test, all have no effect except for Woocommerce plugin – when this is deactivated the site is very quick and no delay in loading pages!

I want to use Woocommerce but not sure what I should do?

    Thanks

    Tim

  • Hello,

This is the biggest problem with Woocommerce, even on a fast dedicated server it is slow.

I hope to find solutions too.

    Thanks.

Let me know if you find anything.

Check in WooCommerce, System Status, Server Environment, PHP Version. If the PHP version is not high enough, at least at 5.6 can cause slow website. Have the webhost increase the PHP Version.

    Hi Debbie,

Thanks for the reply. The php version is 5.6.

    5.6 ans slow websites here…

Check on this links https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ that will give you your speedtest, and also tell you what needs to be fixed. Let me know your results.

The problem isn’t just the general speed of the site – I have tested with Pagespeed Insights and Pingdom.
The issue is that the speed is only being slowed when Woocommerce plugin is activated.

What theme are you using with WooCommerce? How many products do you have listed? Never know WooCommerce itself to cause site to be slow.

I am using the Virtue theme which should be fully compatible with Woocommerce. I don’t actually yet have any products listed as am working on the site at the moment.
