I set up a password-protected page and it works, however the load times for the page after a user enters a password varies per password. There isn’t a consistency for the page to accept the password and display the protected content, times are ranging from 2 seconds to 22 on the batch I’ve tested.

We’re using WPEngine as our host and I’ve turned off our caching, but we are still having issues.

Any other thoughts on things we could try and improve the page load time?

  • Hi @kdecker22,

Thanks for reaching out to us last night.

At first glance, it could be something to do with your server or setup
    configurations.

To assist you better, may we know:

    • How many passwords do you have for that page?
    • The PPWP version you’re using

Please also send us that protected page URL and a few passwords so that we can double-check the issue on our end.

You might want to send these details to our support email – hello(at)preventdirectaccess.com so that our team can support you faster & better.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Just an update, @kdecker22 is using our PPWP Free plugin to generate 1800 passwords.

As per our PPWP Lite’s logic, all passwords are saved in the same column
in the database. So the higher position passwords are located, the faster the password checking process is.

If you have many passwords, we’d recommend you to get our PPWP Pro version.

Due to a database structure and management from the beginning, our Pro version will perform much better than the Lite version.

To be more specific, in our Pro version, the passwords are stored and managed separately both in the UI and database, resulting in a better performance overall.

You can refer to our Lite vs Pro comparision here for more information:

Hope it helps those with the same issue.
