O.K. so I want to create an ecommerce site using wp and wpecomerce cart plugin. Should be no problem however…the domain name I am using is pointed to another hosting company for a old site I want to update.

Also I will be obtaining an SSL certificate via godaddy. In fact I bought the domain name from them but got Lunar Pages as a host back in the day. I have been talked into going with godaddy for all in one support. However they are stupid when it comes to Mysql and WP. They offer extremely limited support re: WP and the databases.
I am good at styling themes etc but terrified of dealing with the database setup.
So here is what I want to do..will it work?
I bought my hosting plan, set it up, titled it the same name as my domain name (even though it is currently pointed to Lunar Pages website). I also purchased a ssl cert but was told cannot set it up until I redirect dns back to godaddy and my new hosting plan. Fine but can I install WP into root of hosting plan, style it out etc, using the preview IP addy godaddy will provide, re0direct the dns to that IP address which will ultimately then change when i set up for ssl (I will then get a dedicated IP addy for that ssl)…will that change (IP address) affect the database in anyway?

I’m thinking no it won’t but not sure…anyone know about databases and their relationship to the IP address for a hosting plan? I mean nothing is going to be moved as far as files are concerned just the address will change….
