    I’d like to request:

1 – Allow entering the image location URL directly rather than having it be handled by WP (and placed into the uploads directory).

2 – Allow a slideshow to be defined by the files in a directory / folder. Adding or removing an image would automatically add or remove it from the slideshow. I do this now with a custom image rotator.

3 – Allow separate settings for each slideshow rather than having to use the meta tag.

These would add to the ease of creating slideshows and would reduce some of the clutter in the WP uploads directory.

  • i could swear you used the word “offer” in the title of your question.

    exactly what are you OFFERING,
other than more verbiage about perceived shortcomings?

feel free to grab the source from github, and submit the patch,
since you feel the slider could be more “very nice” than it already is.

    thanks for helping!

These were suggestions or a request for added functionality, not criticism, but you already knew that, didn’t you?

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Meteor Slides uses WordPress’ built in featured image functionality for the slide images, which means it has to function how WordPress intends it to. With featured images, they have to be stored in the media library.

Meteor Slides is really geared towards managing one or a few slideshows with a handful of slides in each slideshow. But you can certainly customize it to handle more. I really love the Advanced Custom Fields plugin, with that you can do lots of cool stuff, like add captions, or even replace the slide image metabox with a custom one that worked better for bulk uploading.

Separate settings for each slideshow is interesting, I would at least like to make it easier to manage the metadata on each slideshow.
