# Very New-Menu Problems

 * I have my website up and everything looks great except to the right there are
   lists of things that I don’t want up there when others visit the site. I don’t
   really know what these things are and what they mean. Things like “blogroll” 
   and under that “documentation,” “plugins,” “suggest ideas,” “support forum,” “
   themes,” “wordpress blog,” and “wordpress planet.” Also there are lists that 
   say “meta” and “categories.”
    I don’t think these are things my readers will 
   need on the page. I have tried but cannot figure out how to take them off. Thanks
   for any help!

 * And another question….I created several “pages” thinking that I could categorize
   blog posts and put them onto those pages, depending up what the content was about.
   Can I do that? Or are all of those pages permanent and cannot have blog posts
   added to them regularly? Thanks!

 * Go to ‘Appearance’, then ‘Widgets’ and put what you want in there instead of 
   whats there at the moment.
 * The things you see are the default items WordPress puts in there when you haven’t
   selected any widgets.
 * The email thing: Not sure what you mean? You used an email address to register
   with? You just check that email account.

 * Pages are static and don’t hold posts (generally). What you are probably wanting
   is Categories (under ‘posts’ in side menu). You can arrange parent categories
   and put posts in there.

 * Ok, thank you! I think that fixed the problem! I signed up and was given the 
   email that my username is…I’m not sure how or where to check it…

 * IS this WordPress.com or WordPress.org you set up?
 * This forum is for self-hosted WordPress sites (on your own server.)
 * There are some big differences between the two, so if it’s WordPress.com you 
   signed up to, the forum is here: [http://en.forums.wordpress.com/](http://en.forums.wordpress.com/)
 * When you register a new WordPress site on your own server, you register a username
   with your email address, so no need to log in at all.
