• I have created the Yoast Sitemap but it is not in my root directory. However it can be found by clicking on “Your Sitemap” button and also following the link manually. But where is this XML file stored when Google/BING cannot find it ? My new posts/pages are not indexed by Google, I must add them to Webmaster Tools manually one by one.

    Sitemap is here: http://www.mydomain.com/sitemap_index.xml

Never had this problem before on old sites where I used “Google XML Sitemaps” plugin….

P.S: I never used any caching plugin or anything.

  • Sitemaps are virtual …

You need to add the /sitemap_index.xml sitemap into your Google Webmaster Tools, and then give it time. Google will review the sitemap and crawl your site, but it doesn’t happen instantly.

Nope, does not work. It has been submitted to Google WT in OCtober 2014 and Google does not find new posts. Also when I created any new post or page it had to be added manually into Google index because when Google comes to my site it does not find sitemap file. Google will never find this Yoast xml sitemaps believe me.

Now I had deleted Yoast and installed Google XML plugin from Arne Brachhold and it works like a charm guys.

I think Joost De Valk overcomplicated his plugin.
