Call it, “Blogging Engine”*. It has just two functions, a file that will display your posts on the web, and a file that displays a text field where you can type up your posts, and a button to publish it. Nothing else. Everything else is done through a plugin. Want one or more additional columns? Plugin. WYSIWYG editing? Plugin. Comments? Plugin.
A basic, tightly coded, error intolerant**, extensible script that allows for very basic blogging, but which can be extend via plugins to include all sorts of neat functions.
Though I expect it would get released as WordPress II
**I’m a fan of Unix because it is so damn fussy, cuts down on buggy software.
