This new editor has a very bad workflow and hides a tlot of elements that were directly accessible in the old editor, leading to A LOT more clicks to accomplish the same than before. The UX and UI are not thought through. I have no idea how developers can come up with such a gigantic step back when it comes to ergonomics. Barely usable in this tate despite some good ideas.

Plus: I loose all my addons and tweaks I added for the old editor. inacceptable.

  • Thank you for the feedback. If possible, it would be helpful to include a specific example of something that’s taking you a lot more clicks.

This sounds like you may be adding code tweaks and the Gutenberg editor is more strict with parsing. Can you try using the Custom HTML for those cases? It was built with code edits in mind whereas the paragraph and other blocks were built with the idea that someone should not need to edit the code in most cases.

I do not use the html-editor.

Lots of things I could achieve by just clicking on an icon in the icon bar were moved to the sidebar where I have to unfold something to find it. This is very bad UX design and even badder usability. I need to get things done quick and Gutenberg stands in the way of that like a very big rock.

Things that I achieved by using the sidebar are still in the sidebar also but I have to search for those.

I have installed plugins to extend the old editor and even coded some extensions for it myself that add functionality to the icon bar. Those are no longer usable in Gutenberg and I uses those a lot every day. Loosing them would dramatically increase the time to write articles and that I time I cannot spare.

This may be nice as a page builder but as a wysiwyg text editor it is completely unusable for me. The day Gutenberg becomes the sole solution and when you will remove the possibility to switch back to the old editor will be the day I go away from WordPress after all those years.
