• This plugin and company very bad. They send marketing email without permission and how do they know my email. When you install plugin they send private data and subscribe to marketing email. Very very bad. Never install.

  • Hi @phoenix36,

    Hope you’re doing well.

It seems there may have been a misunderstanding. We want to assure you that BetterLinks does not collect any personal data without user consent. During the plugin onboarding process, we clearly request permission before collecting any information.

Please refer to this screenshot for clarification: https://d.pr/i/TAGqk7

At the “Getting Started” step, you’ll see this message:

“By clicking this button I am allowing this app to collect my information. What We Collect?”

If you click on the “What We Collect?” text, you’ll find this transparent explanation:

“We collect non-sensitive diagnostic data and plugin usage information — like your site URL, WordPress & PHP version, installed plugins/themes, and email address to send you a discount coupon. This helps us ensure compatibility and performance. No spam, we promise.”

Additionally, there’s a “Skip this step” option, allowing you to move forward without sharing any data.

We truly value your feedback and are always here to help if you have any concerns. If this clears up the misunderstanding, we’d really appreciate it if you could consider updating your review.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Hi @phoenix36

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your concerns.

We want to reassure you that our plugin does not collect or send any personal data without the user’s clear and explicit consent. Nothing is gathered or transmitted unless the user has actively agreed to it.

During the onboarding process, we present a consent screen where users are invited to help improve the plugin by sharing anonymous usage data. This step is entirely optional, and there’s a clearly visible “Skip” button, users can decline and continue using the plugin with full functionality.

If a user chooses to provide consent at that stage, we may follow up with onboarding-related emails or helpful guidance, but again, only after receiving that explicit opt-in.

We take privacy and data security very seriously and make every effort to ensure users are informed and in control of their choices.

That said, we truly value honest feedback and want to make sure there’s no misunderstanding. If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate any additional details you can share about your experience. It would really help us better understand what happened and ensure nothing is being misinterpreted — especially since some of the points raised might unintentionally give the wrong impression to others.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Looking forward to hearing from you
