# Version/Permalinks

 * Part a – how do i tell what version of WP I am using? I feel silly asking but
   i honestly cannot tell.
 * Part b – I want to change the permalink structure yet I cannot find it ANYWHERE!!!.
   All blog posts/videos etc show the permalink page easily seen under link options
   and of course “permalinks” but on my version it is nowhere to be seen or found.

 * Log into your admin area, it should contain the version in the top left “section”
   where it has all of your sites stats.
 * If you can’t find it there, can you provide us with the URL? We can find it from
   there.
 * In the newest version of WordPress, permalinks can be set by visiting Settings-
   >Permalinks from the left hand menu or by visiting [http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/options-permalink.php](http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/options-permalink.php)

 * Are you using self-hosted WordPress or WordPress.com?
 * If you are using WordPress.com you won’t have the option to change permalinks
   and you are posting in the wrong place – support for WordPress.com is handled
   at [http://en.support.wordpress.com](http://en.support.wordpress.com)
 * If, however, you are using self-hosted WordPress, please post your site URL.
