Support » Plugin: Meta Generator and Version Info Remover » version not removed from script on WP 3.7.1?

  • wrigs1

I like the idea of an all in one plugin to remove version no; so I’ve just tried this plugin on 2 sites.

However, I’ve not rated it yet because for both sites was still able to identify the major WP version as 3.7 from common.js.

Both sites use different themes; and I’ve even switched to the standard 2012 theme but Securi still identifies the version number.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

    Hi wrigs1,

Can you please confirm that in html “view source” code “meta generator” tag is still there; even after installing and activating the plugin?

Securi may use some other framework detection algorithm i.e. other than meta generator tag lookup. However if the meta generator tag is not there in ‘view source’ then the plugin is working fine.

Please let me know your feedback. I will be happy to help.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Retested on one site (a child theme of themeHybrid’s Trending). I can confirm the plugin removes meta tags.

However, even with this plugin activated (and all others deactivated) Securi still reports:

    “WordPress Version 3.7 based on:

It can’t be a caching issue – the Tag results from Securi change depending on whether your plugin is on or off.

It could be something to do with my site as I’ve tried this old plugin without success as well:

Its not a vital issue from my viewpoint, so no worries if you can’t think of anything else.

    Thanks again for the response
