Support » Plugin: XML Sitemap & Google News » Version 5.2 overwrites my sitemap page

    Hi
I’ve never had this problem before version 5.2, been using this plugin happily since 2010!

My xml sitemap has always been at https://jobmob.co.il/sitemap.xml and still is.

At https://jobmob.co.il/sitemap, I’ve always had a website sitemap with a list of all my blog posts.

However, once I upgrade to 5.2, the latter url’s content is replaced with the former url’s and they both show the xml sitemap index.

Anyone to disable this functionality in 5.2? I’ve since rolled back to 5.1.2.

    thanks

    Jacob

  • Hi, have you tried resaving your permalink settings?

And which plugin is creating your /sitemap/ page?

I see you just posted 5.2.1…

On a test server, I updated to 5.2.1 and the issue is still there (I flushed all caches to be sure).

I tried resaving my permalink settings – even though I didn’t make any changes – and that had no effect.

The /sitemap/ page is a regular WordPress page with some content written by me and a shortcode from the WP Sitemap Page plugin to generate the list of all categories and posts.

OK thanks for reporting back. I’ll try to reproduce and fix if possible 🙂

Hi again, after having reproduced the issue, I can confirm this is caused by a modification in the latest release. It will be addressed in the next release.

Until then, if you’re not afraid of doing a modification to the plugin you could do the following:
    1. go to Plugins > Editor, then select XML Sitemap & Google News
    2. then find the file controllers/functions.php on the right and open it for editing
    3. scroll down to line 57 where it sais:

    add_feed( 'sitemap', 'xmlsf_load_template_index' );

    and remove that line completely
    4. then Save
    5. Go to Settings > Permalinks and save the settings without changing them

Now test your /sitemap/ page again and please let me know 🙂

Sweet! I can confirm that 5.2.2 fixes the issue. Thanks 👍
