Are you already using Gutenberg or ready to switch over soon? Great news! Version 4.0 of the Getty Images plugin adds support for Gutenberg!

  • Downloaded the latest version and tested with Gutenberg – it works fine for adding an embedded getty image in content. But how do i set a getty image as featured image?

Clicking the set featured image button on the right just opens the media popup with ‘Upload Files’ or ‘Media Library’? No way to get to Getty Images

Only way I can set a Getty image as featured image is to add a getty image block to the page, search for the image, choose download and set as featured image, and then delete the image block

    That’s not ideal

Is there any way of opening the Getty image search popup directly from the set featured image instead of having to add and remove getty image blocks?

Any thoughts on the above guys?

Sorry for missing this one, @robib. We’ll take a look and get back to you.

Hi @robib. If you are signed into the Getty Images WordPress plugin and have credits or a subscription, the plugin displays a few different options, one of which is “Download and set as Featured Image”. Unfortunately, this isn’t available if you’re Embedding images rather than purchasing/downloading against a subscription. The Featured Image functionality requires an actual image whereas Embed is a snippet of code. Hope that helps! Let us know if you need more info.

Hi. I have a paid subscription and want to set a featured image. I shouldn’t have to drag a getty block onto the page, download and set as featured image and then delete the block again. Blocks are for on page embeddable images. The featured image isn’t a block on a page.

Ahhh, I understand the situation better. The plugin offers two paths, one for logged in users like yourself, and one for users who are embedding content. I misunderstood your comment earlier and thought you were embedding.

I’ll make a note of your callout and see if this is a feature we can add in the future. Definitely makes sense and would allow you to work a little faster.

I agree, this implementation is rather clunky. The only way for a subscriber to insert a featured image in Gutenberg is to first add a block, select the image to be the featured image, and then delete the block?

Also, it seems that under the classic editor, there’s no Insert or Submit button in the media library popup for Getty Images.

I’m on 4.0.1 of the plugin.
