I don’t think the links to the single venue pages are working. (Or isn’t there a page for individual venues anymore?)

When I click on the link button (box with arrow) next to the venue name on an event page, it takes me to the all venues list page, rather than the page for that venue.

When on the all venues list page, when you click on the image of a venue, it just takes you back to the all venues list. If you search for a venue by name, and then click on the venue image, it takes you back to the all venues list, rather than the page for that venue.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details.

We’ve checked this functionality on our end and found the venue links to be working correctly. To help identify what might be causing the issue on your site, please try temporarily deactivating all other plugins/extensions except EventPrime and then check again.

If the issue persists after doing so, please let us know, and we’ll investigate further.

Thanks for the reply. It led me to the problem. A while back, you had me turn on “pretty urls” on the SEO setting page to solve another issue I was having. With pretty urls turned on, the venue links did not work. With it off, they did work. The “event sites subdirectory” was set to “venue” rather than “venues”, With this change, the links to the venues are working again. I’m guessing I entered the wrong value when I enabled the pretty urls. (In my defense, the other subdirectory names are all singular.)

Thanks again for your always great help.

Apparently I spoke too soon. I must not have flushed the caches between tests or something, because the links to the individual venue pages are not working again. I did some more careful testing to confirm that the links work when pretty urls are turned off and they do not work with pretty urls turned on.

Pretty urls are currently turned on. If you go to the venues list on my website https://mn-act.net/links/venues/ and click on any venue it just refreshes the page and does not display the selected venue page. (With pretty urls turned off this works as expected.)

I will setup a staging area, verify the problem there and then disable all other plugins and test again. I will get back to you shortly.

I setup a staging area. I deactivated all plugins except EventPrime. I set the theme to Twenty Twenty-Four. I tested the venue links with the same results. With pretty urls off, the links to the individual venue pages all work. With pretty urls turned on, I cannot get an individual venue page to come up. The venues page in the staging area is: “https://staging.mn-act.net/links/venues/“.

With pretty urls turned off, here’s what a link looks like: “https://staging.mn-act.net/links/venues/?venue=426“. With pretty urls turned on, here’s what a link to that same venue looks like: “https://staging.mn-act.net/venues/125live/“. (That is the correct slug for that venue.)

Most of the venues were created when pretty urls were turned off. So I tested with a venue that I added this morning, when pretty urls were turned on. I thought maybe that link would work (with pretty urls tuned on), since it was created with pretty urls turned on. No such luck. It does not work either. In the staging area, with pretty urls turned on, I created a new venue (aaa test). It comes up on the venues list page, but clicking on it does not take me to that venue’s page.

How do I determine what the “Event Sites Subdirectory” value should be? (I’m thinking – hoping – that might be the problem.) I have tried “venue” and “venues” with no change in the problem.

I have the exact same problem with the venue page links not working. In the list of venues page, which is produced with the shortcode

D L you seem to have the problem on your event organizers page, too. My “organizers” are “theatres” and on my theatres list page the links to the organizer pages seems to work.

@lpint thanks, yes it looks like the same problem as the venues list.

    https://thebeachcats.com/calendar/calendar-event-organizers/

I’ve struggled with how to setup EventPrime. The purpose on my site is to allow member (logged in users) to submit catamaran sailing events like regattas and distance races. I thought the feature EvenPrime offered of having Venues and Organizers was great, but it seems to just make the process more difficult for people submitting events.

Many times, but not all, the venue IS the organizers. Other times the venue is a public park or beach and the organizer is the local (sometimes only loosely organized) sailing club or fleet.

I’m not trying to use the more advanced features like booking or payments. Although it would be great to have something like RSVP or the Facebook Events feature of “I’m Interested” and “I’m Going” choices on the event details. I haven’t seen a feature like that though.

    Hi @lpint , @damon18

There might be parent–child pages created, which could be causing the issue. Please set the Venues page as the main page and check if the error is resolved.

Could you please confirm once you’ve tried this?

    Thread Starter Larry

    (@lpint)

I have confirmed that making the venues page a main page (not a child page) resolves the issue.

Thank you for your always great support.

@epsupport1 Yes, that does seem to help. However wouldn’t you consider that a bug in the plugin if you can’t nest pages in a normal logical manner? That is a core feature of WordPress.
