    Sorry about that. I’ll try to make it more clear when I get off work. You can place the shortcode in any page. That way if you want to use a different set of images for the background slider on another page you can do so.

    Were you having any other troubles with it?

    To further clarify… Here’s a screenshot of exactly how I used it in my demo

    Hi James,
    Thank you for your swift reply. Not really used to that on these fora! Ok, I am trying to use the slider with the Blackbird theme. What if I want to use it on the homepage?

    Your code worked, thanks! Only thing.. I don’t really like the content being mostly transparent. Any thoughts on that?

    Okay. For this Blackbird theme, I tested it out and I’ve got it to work. Now it really depends on where you want to put these sliders. If you want one on the home page you’re going to need to go Appearance -> Editor and from there navigate to the front-page.php template on the right hand side.

    You’ll see some code that looks like so:

    <?php
    /**
     * The template for displaying front page pages.
     *
     */
    ?>
    <?php get_header(); ?>

    Now’s where you’ll take the shortcode you want and place it inside

    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[SHORTCODE HERE]' ) ?>

    So it’ll look similar to this:

    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[vegasslider id="5" fade="800" overlay="http://demo.jamesdbruner.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/az_subtle.png"]' ) ?>

    and just put that right underneath the <?php get_header(); ?> code

    final code

    <?php
    /**
     * The template for displaying front page pages.
     *
     */
    ?>
    <?php get_header(); ?>
    <?php echo do_shortcode( '[vegasslider id="5" fade="800" overlay="http://demo.jamesdbruner.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/az_subtle.png"]' ) ?>

    (naturally there’s more code under this but this is all we have to deal with)

    That will put the vegas slider on your homepage. If you want the slide on your other pages you can just do as I instructed above by using the shortcode and putting it in the content editor 🙂 I hope that helps and wasn’t too confusing!

    Yeah, I agree. If you go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Styling Options

    You can try adding this little bit of css code

    .content-bar {padding-left: 30px;}
    .page-content-container {background:white;}

    and that should add a white box around the content which makes it a lot easier to read and I think that looks a lot better on that particular theme.

    EDIT: This is only a fix for the internal pages and not the home page…

    Let me know if you need anything else 🙂

    You are a star! I will have a look tomorrow, almost midnight here in Holland. Have a great New Year, and I will let you know how this turns out.
    Thanks a million!

    Ciao,
    Helen

    I’m going to go ahead and mark this as resolved. Let me know if you have any other concerns with the plugin! 🙂

    That’s a really nice plugin, thanks for those replies, they helped me.

    Good, I’m glad you like it!

    I’m also trying to get your vegas slider to work on this site:
    http://www.primevolleyballclub.com/

    without luck though… I used the php echo do_shortcode method described above but still nothing…

    I’m using Pagelines Framework and opened the header.php file and place it here just after the closing header tag:

    <?php
    /*

    	HEADER

    	This file controls the HTML <head> and top graphical markup (including Navigation) for each page in your theme.
    	You can control what shows up where using WordPress and PageLines PHP conditionals

    	This theme copyright (C) 2008-2010 PageLines

    */
    	pagelines_register_hook('pagelines_before_html'); // Hook
    ?><!DOCTYPE html>
    <html <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <head>
    <?php

    		pagelines_register_hook('pagelines_head'); // Hook

    		wp_head(); // Hook (WordPress)

    ?></head>

    <?php echo do_shortcode('[vegasslider id="1013" fade="1000" overlay="http://www.primevolleyballclub.com/wp-content/plugins/vegas-background/overlays/04.png"]'); ?>

    <body <?php body_class( pagelines_body_classes() ); ?>>

    I would love to help you out. Let me get off work and I’ll be able to take a look. 🙂

    Hey phillipvr, I’ve got it to work in pagelines using the method you showed above… I just want to cover my bases.. Have you already tried using just the shortcode in the page?

    e.g. putting [vegasslider id=”1013″ fade=”1000″ overlay=”http://www.primevolleyballclub.com/wp-content/plugins/vegas-background/overlays/04.png”] in the content of your home page

    If that doesn’t help, maybe you could email me at james@jamesdbruner.com and I can try help you further.

    I figured it out. It came down to a simple url path error.. oops. I was making edits in the wrong header.php file.. duh

    Thanks anyway for the quick response and offer to help, and thanks for a great plugin!

    I had a few code questions outside of this specific topic if you don’t mind contacting me at designpvr.at.gmail.com

    Thanks..
