Vault of the Gameverse – Video Game Site
When I open your website, I look for a feed like RSS, but I could not see it.
I don’t know what an RSS is or why I should have it.
And apparently the “notify me of follow-up posts via email” on this forum does not work. =(
Wow, lots packed into your website and a lot of work! I would put your blog info closer to the top, along with an “About” page. Here is some info on RSS which could be helpful to you
The most important part is:
A feed is a function of special software that allows feedreaders to access a site, automatically looking for new content and then posting the information about new content and updates to another site. This provides a way for users to keep up with the latest and hottest information posted on different blogging sites.
Thank you Jacob. I was actually just reading about RSS and trying to find my feed but I can’t understand the steps I’ve come across to get to it. I have no idea what I’m doing so it’s all very confusing. I don’t understand what that stuff is saying.
My blog info closer to the top? Are you talking about the Gravatar thing I have on the right side? I moved that up if I understood you right. =p
I have an About page written up, there’s a link to it at both the bottom and top of the page but it’s not very visible. I’m not sure how to make it more visible.
Here’s a little more information about RSS from wordpress.com
On gameversevault.com, I am seeing your FB link in the upper right and your About link at the bottom right.
Can you combine some of your items on the menu bar and make them a dropdown, so that you can move your About link and Blog link into the menu bar? Although I don’t like a menu bar with more than one line, does the theme you are using allow 2 lines ?
The first think I like to do when I go to a website is to see Who, What and Why. Who designed it, What it’s about and Why I should like it.
I don’t know if you’ll see this again Jacob but I wanted to say thank you very much again.
I just discovered that my only problem with RSS was that I just didn’t understand it was automatic. When I click on my own RSS feed thing it would take me to a page full of coding that I don’t understand and didn’t know wtf was goin on. But apparently it just works normal for visitors.
If you do happen to see my response to your post… I’m not quite sure I understand you about the menu.
Do you mean the very top menu above the menu that has my categories like Highlights, Sales, Kickstart It and stuff? Or do you mean that menu with the Highlights and all that?
I’m totally new to this so I don’t really know all the lingo or little extra tools to play with. I am trying though.
I’m talking about the menu bar where you have “Highlights”, “Free to Play”, etc. Other options on the menu bar could be “About Me”, “My Blog” , etc. In my opinion, most everything you have on a website should be accessible from the Menu Bar directly or with a drop-down menu. I am seeing your gravatar under “Highlights”,etc. I don’t see your about page on the top right. I see it on the bottom right. The menu bar should have a “Home” option to be able to get back to gameversevault.com
On the second line of the menu bar I am seeing “news”, on the left, in a very small font that is only visible if you hover there. You can use that second line for “about” and “home”
Hope that helps.
Forgot to mention this. I like that you have links to your blogs and that you keep your blogs current. There is nothing worse than someone that starts a blog, posts twice a week or more for some time and then loses interest and there are posts once every six months. Nice site. Good luck with your future development.
The about me is also at the top left. It’s just hard to see. I don’t know how to change that yet or if I even can.
Why have a Home Page link when the text logo Vault of the Gameverse just above the menu is the home page link? =p
I did add a ton of stuff to the sidebar though while viewing articles and the About page is also linked there.
Thanks again! You’ve been a great help.
