VAT number base country issue

Since updating the plugin, I have the following issue.

When I add the VAT number to the base country i get “VAT is valid” under the vat field but in red. Then when i try to place the order i get a message “EU VAT Number is not valid”. When i try this for other countries the VAT number is valid and the checkout works no problem.
