    Hi,

One of my clients was reporting an issue where a variable product was flagged as “Out Of Stock (20)” in the dashboard. This product has it’s stock level managed by the parent. When a customer added a product to their cart, they were informed that the product was out of stock.

What we found was that there is no longer an option to flag the product or the variation as being in or out of stock. The only way we were able to change this option was via the bulk edit methods for variations.

Just wondered if anyone else had come across this. I think this may be just a “transitioning between versions” issue but it had us scratching our heads for a while. Also confused as to why the option to change this option is available via the bulk method but not individually.

    Any thoughts?

    Zak

  • over 50% of my products is listed as out of stock after last update. There is no different between product listed out of stock and product not listed /flaged out of stock.

@zakalwe You can see the changes to backorders and inventory explained here: https://woocommerce.wordpress.com/2017/12/06/wc-3-3-product-backorders-and-stock-management-improvements/

With inventory management de-selected you will be able to flag the item as out of stock.

@brede please confirm you have run the database update and the version matches WooCommerce. You can rerun the update from WooCommerce > Status > Tools.

It’s also possible that this was caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.

The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

@zakalwe please confirm that you see the same when you’re using Storefront theme and have all plugins deactivated except WooCommerce?

This looks like another plugin is hiding the option from you – add them back one at a time to find which one then you can troubleshoot further.

@stephjacq Can you confirm whether this option should be available for Variable Products at the parent level? I have just disabled all plugins on an old version of the site and this option does not seem to appear.

That’s correct, these changes were not applied to variable products so what you are seeing is expected.

I’m having the same problem with single products. Have disabled all plugins, tried this multiple times (from new and updating existing IDs) – all my products import as “Out of Stock).

I have the latest free version of woocommerce – all themes, plugins, WP verion is up to date.
