Variation Swatches creates critical error on WP

    Hi, I noticed Variation Swatches stopped working. On the page I linked it’s supposed to indicate which time slots are still available and which are booked already.

    When I looked at the plugin I noticed the Pro plugin is deactivated. However, when I try to activate it I get an error message:

    “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

    The basic version of the plugin is still active, but doesn’t do what I need it to. I can’t activate the Pro version.

    This plugin has worked well since I launched the site in 2020, so I can only assume some update has broken it. Is there a fix?

    The theme I use is called Astra.

    I did a bit more digging on this. Thinking it might be a conflict with my Astra theme I temporarily changed the site to WP Twenty-Twenty Four theme. However, the problem persisted: when I try to reactivate Variation Swatches for WooCommerce – Pro I get a message that the plugin caused a critical error.

    Having switched back to my usual Astra theme I then deactivated all plugins except the core Woocommerce plugin and the free version on Variation Swatches (which the Pro version requires). No change: as soon as I try to reactivate the Pro plugin I get the same warning about a critical error.

    I’m not sure what else I can do. I hope somebody from the company who owns the plugin reads this!

    OK, managed to solve this myself for lack of any feedback!

    In case others have this problem the solution is to download a fresh copy of the plugin and manually reinstall it over the current copy. The new version I downloaded was a more recent version, indicating the that automatic updates are not working for this plugin for some reason.
