Hi. You left my previous thread unanswered by closing it.

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/variables-button-play/

I’ve been sitting on GTM since morning because your plugin randomly sends different triggers. Sometimes it’s play, sometimes pause (regardless of whether I want to play or pause the episode). In addition, one time there’s a different trigger under classes, and another under click link.

With your plugin, it’s impossible to set Google Tag Manager to correctly retrieve data on how many people played the episode, how many paused, how many selected a specific episode, and how many stopped a given episode.

If you can’t solve this problem, admit it, instead of closing the topic as if nothing had happened.

    Hi,

I still have one thought – clicking “play” should trigger a different event than “pause”. In your plugin, even one button has several different triggers, displayed on different variables.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your patience.

I again want to reiterate that, Podcast player buttons do not emit any events on there own. They are not designed for that. There only purpose is to play or pause an episode. As long as they are playing or pausing as intended by the user, they are working fine. The events fired are triggered by the browser while playing or pausing any audio file. I still say the method you are using is not designed to work.

      Thanks,

      Hi @patryktarachon ,

How should we proceed from here. How can I help you in this?

      Thanks,

I understand that you can’t set it up. So, with the current settings, it is only possible to collect data that someone has opened an episode. Without the possibility of examining a change to another or pausing?

In present setup, you can set a threshold time (0 seconds to any time). If any episode is played continuously minimum for that much time, it will be counted as a play. If someone switch to another episode, it will also counted provided it play for the threshold time.

      Thanks,

I understand that the alternately displayed variables will not be fixed in any way?

      Hi there,

If you want to do this in a specific way and with a specific plugin, I am sorry but that don’t seem possible. However, if you want the podcast player to fire play, pause etc. events which can be captured by your preferred plugin (The plugin is anyway capturing events, but in a certain way), I can make the plugin to fire those events. This will be helpful for any other user who want to use those events with some other plugin or perhaps some custom code.

Inform me for more help or explanation on this.

      Thanks,

I think this option would be useful for marketing professionals. Measuring conversions is important for advertising campaigns and reporting for podcasters.

      Hi,

If there is no solution to my problem, what can I do?

      (@vedathemes)

      Hi there,

Yes there is a solution. You can contact your GTM plugin provider to help and use custom events fired by the podcast player. As I mentioned earlier, they already support many plugins. I can help by firing all required events by the plugin.

      Thanks,
