Variable Products Not Getting Added to Cart on Mobile

Variable Products are not getting added to cart on mobile. The message ‘Product has been added to your cart’ appears but the cart remains empty. This happens only on mobile.
What I have already tried :
1. Deactivating all plugins except Woocommerce
2. Switching to 2020 theme

I have noticed that if we add a simple product to cart first, and then add a variable product it works.

Hey there,

Thanks for that clear description!

I went to your test site and tried adding a variable product to the cart on Android using Opera: the message came up that the product had been added to the cart, but the cart is empty.

There are a bunch of things that this could be, but the most obvious is a conflict. You mentioned that you’d already tested for it, but would you mind disabling all plugins and switching to 2020 on that test site? I’ll be happy to take another look at that point.

Thanks for the quick response. It’s a live site, I cannot make changes on it.
But like I said, I cloned the website and disabled all plugins and switched to 2020.

Hey there,

Thanks for the update! I hadn’t realized that the test site was using 2020. Now that I check the source, I can see that.

I did some further testing, wondering if it was perhaps a responsive design issue. Interestingly, I can replicate the issue on my computer in both a small screen (to mimic a mobile browser) as well as in a full size screen. In both cases, the product is not actually added to the cart.

There aren’t any JavaScript warnings in the browser console, so it’s unlikely to be a conflict.

I did try to go back to the variable product from the cart and my browser showed me a caching error. That means that there’s likely something strange happening with the cache, which could explain the cart issues. Can you please make sure you don’t have any caching plugins enabled?

On the system status report, I’m seeing the following under drop-in plugins: advanced-cache.php: advanced-cache.php

That could also be the problem here. I’d recommend disabling that and checking to see if you’re still having the same problem. If that doesn’t solve it, your next best step is to reach out to your host to check if they have any caching on your site: if they do, disable it so that you can test.

Hey there,

There is no caching plugin on the site. I have disabled cache on the server.I contacted Cloudways, where I host my sites, and they confirmed that there is no caching at the server.

While I do see the problem on your site, I’m not able to replicate it on any other site.

From here, I’d recommend trying to set up a new, clean site on the same hosting. If you see the same problem, you know it’s related to the hosting or configuration. If you don’t see the same problem, then it’s something specific to that site.

Otherwise, you may want to work with a Woo Expert who could get more hands-on with your site. In that case, I highly recommend contacting one of the services on our customizations page: https://woocommerce.com/customizations/
