    Hey there!
Ever since I remember and use this plugin, I can not get category names in Enhanced E-commerce, when customer buys variable products. Simple products works fine, variable just provide (not set) tag.

Am I doing something wrong or this is the bug. Also friend of mine have this issue and our GTM was set up separetaly.

    Hi Karol,

Thanks for letting me know about your issue!

I do see that you have setup a GA event tag to be fired on the gtm4wp.changeDetailViewEEC GTM event. Could you double check this please?

    Thanks,
    Thomas Geiger

Hi Thomas, I checked events in GTM and I have only:
    gtm4wp.addProductToCartEEC
    gtm4wp.productClickEEC
    gtm4wp.removeFromCartEEC
    gtm4wp.checkoutOptionEEC

I set it up regards https://gtm4wp.com/how-to-articles/how-to-setup-enhanced-ecommerce-tracking/ few months ago. As I check it right now, I can see gtm4wp.changeDetailViewEEC as the last event. Maybe is it something new.

Should I get it to GTM?

    Hi,

Yes, please add this event to the existing list.
Until now I communicated such changes in the changelog of the plugin, but now I have a blog page and a Facebook page too, hopefully those channels will be more successful delivering important changes 🙂

Thx Thomas, I add gtm4wp.changeDetailViewEEC “helper events”. Is this everything to do?

Yes, that should do the job.

Hmm, a set it up few day ago with no change. Little disappointment for me. Still no categories for variable products on GA.

Are you sure it should work? Every woo-pro friend in our local community has this issue.

    Hi,

I am sorry to read that you are disappointed!

This is what I can see know:
    https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2878450/1e5e16aca04d062997587d40e92b5e13

When I select an option on a variable product page, an event is being sent just as it should. And the hit includes the category name as you can see on the screenshot.

What I can however see is that the category name on the checkout page is empty for those products, that might be the root of the issue. I will need some time to investigate this further but since I can now see where the problem might be, hopefully I will be able to provide a solution as well.

    Thomas

I have this issue as well!
I implemented the gtm4wp.changeDetailViewEEC event I will ago based on your great advice. Unfortunately I am also just getting not set returned.

I’ve just posted a fix to the dev version of the plugin. Now product category names on cart and checkout pages will be properly added for variant products:
