This is a support request, not a review and has been moved to the plugin’s support area.
@dvazquez260376,
We agree with you 100%. It’s one of several other reasons why we stopped using this plugin.
The rationale provided by iThemes doesn’t make sense. If it did, several other major security plugins like SG Security and Wordfence would stop providing 404 information as well.
From our viewpoint, a well-coded security plugin should provide the information you mentioned. Understanding well who’s attacking websites (i.e., via IPs, hostnames, etc.) is crucial to help website owners and/or administrators create the proper defense barriers that go beyond a plugin.
At this point, if you haven’t tried SG Security or WordFence, you should. We’re not endorsing them, simply sharing our experience. Both plugins provide what you’re looking for and offer good, solid protection. In fact, not only do they provide 404 information, but all other types of hits well (e.g., 20Xs, 30Xs, 40Xs, 50Xs)
Cheers!
Thanks your comment @jetxpert, I know there are not many of us who think the same about the 404 information.
I’m also, not convinced by the explanation from the developers.
I hope they bring the functionality back, if not, I’ll look for one of the alternatives you mention.
@dvazquez260376,
We switched to Wordfence and love every bit of it. Support for both their Free and Pro versions is phenomenal.
Let’s hope iThemes will catch up soon. We purchased a lifetime license from them so our expectations are high.
Best wishes!
