Support » Fixing WordPress » Using WP as a CMS for a Preexisting Website

  • Hi everybody,

I’m basically a total noob at using WordPress.

My boss at work wants me to edit our website, which was designed by a company using some program that’s not WordPress. My question is, can I use WordPress to manage and edit this website? How would I do that? Do I just need to get the admin password from our website guy?

    Thanks in advance.

  • to edit an existing website? No.

Is the information already in a database? has a plugin been released that could transfer/inport the data into WordPress?

    Hi Elfin,

Thanks for your reply. I don’t know if the information is already in a database, do I have to ask the website guy to find out?

Don’t know about the plugin either.

Basically you have to either rebuild your site into wordpress or get the company to build the functionality you require into your existing website.

Thanks, Maoski, I think that’s pretty much the answer I was looking for.
