 * I just installed WP. I don’t want a blog. I just want a boring page with some
   background color, some text, and some links to future pages of my site. The homepage
   will remain basically static, as will the other pages I want. WP seems to insist
   I use a theme, but they all turn my page entries into blog entries and make the
   page look like a blog in other ways, like creating ridiculously large margins
   and placing my text in the middle. I just want a normal website. Now you may
   be wondering why I downloaded WP. That’s because I don’t know code and because
   the plugins are exactly what I need, but I have to use WP for them to be of any
   use. Is there a way to simplify this stuff? Thanks in advance for your help.

 * There are themes for every kind of look. Have a look at the huge mass of free
   theme archives around.
 * You need a starting point, just as you would with any other type of website.
 * Your best way forward would be to try out a few themes and then just put all
   of your information into pages.
 * WordPress is really flexible and you can do whatever you want with it. However,
   you do need to know the basics of HTML/CSS/PHP to do that.

 * If you don’t like the default Theme (Twenty Eleven) then [have a search for something more to your liking](http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/).
 * To use WordPress _without_ blogging functionality:
 * 1) Create a _static Page_ to hold your site Front Page content. Title it anything;
   for simplicity, you might title it “Front Page”.
 * 2) Go to `Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading`
 * 3) Change “Front Page Displays” from “Your latest posts” to “A static Page”
 * 4) In the “Front page” dropdown list, select the Page you created in Step #1.
 * 5) Leave the “Posts page” dropdown list empty.
 * Now, your site will display a static Page as your Front Page, and will not display
   blog Posts.
