  • I created an ecommerce portal called which uses WordPress.

We started with the Twenty Twelve theme, but changed it in several places for the CSS like making it wider and adding CSS 3 to it. It uses several WP_Query loops and works with Grabzit to create the screenshots of each online store.

The slider uses the Promotions plugin which creates a custom post type.

The featured categories uses a custom menu loop.

Hello Bruce, I’m not sure if you’re looking for a review, per se, but here are a couple of thoughts:

    • My first impression is that you kind of overdid it on the box shadows. I think it could still work relatively well if you’d lighten them up a little bit, let the elements fade into the page a little bit more. Right now, the stark contrast is pretty distracting.
    • It’s difficult to tell which of the two menus (below the promotions slider) should be considered the primary one. The orange-ish subnav definitely grabs the eye first but it’s sort of difficult to read. You might consider flipping the gradient or backing off such a bright shade of orange. Makes the white text sort of hard to decipher.
    • I like the way the widget h3’s were handled, they really look nice and fit with the rest of the site’s color scheme.
    • Lastly, I noticed that your site-title is repeated twice with no space on all pages. Perhaps you need to check the configuration of your SEO plugin(s) to make sure there’s no conflicts.
    • Overall, a nice, eye-catching site.

Thanks, Drew. The shadows can be lighten, of course 😉 I will also consider your suggestion about the menus.
